STEIN
RACE
Prerequisites
-18 or older
-Liability release form
Rules
-1 contestant per lane lines
up with both feet behind the white line. When the announcer strikes
the almglocken, they run 90 feet to their assigned 6 steins, pick
them up, and run back. The objectives are to do this as fast as
possible, with as little water lost.
-Timing starts from the
ringing of the bell to the moment any part of the contestant’s feet
touches pavement beyond the white line.
-For each centimeter of
liquid lost from the steins, 1 second is added to the contestant’s
time. If the contestant lost a centimeter from each stein, 6 seconds
are added to his/her stein. (Judges round centimeters of liquid lost
to the closest centimeter on a stein-by-stein basis.)
-The first 2 races will
determine in which of the 3rd and 4th races
the contestants will compete. The losers of the first 2 races will
compete head-to-head in the 3rd race to avoid being the
big loser. The winners of the first 2 races will compete in the 4th
to be the grand champion.
To win
-The person with the lowest
time after adjustments for lost liquid is the winner of each race.

LIMBURGER RACE
Prerequisites
-16 or older
-Liability release form
Rules
-The 5 contestants eat their
4-oz. plate of limburger cheese cubes as fast as possible.
-Before the race,
contestants will draw straws, longest to shortest getting first
through last choice on from which plate they’ll eat.
-The race begins with the
ringing of the almglocken. Contestants are not allowed to touch
their toothpicks or cheese until the race has begun.
-Contestants are not allowed
to plug their nose.
-As limburger cheese
supposedly tastes better with cold beer, contestants are under no
circumstances allowed to have beer with them during the event.
-The race goes until 1)
someone has swallowed—repeat, SWALLOWED—all their cheese, or 2) 1
minute has elapsed (warranting a second bell-ringing).
-Contestants are not allowed
to either “erbrechen” or otherwise lose more than the scantest
quantity of cheese. If they do, they are disqualified.
To win
-Either the first one to
complete his or her plate or the person who’s eaten the most cheese
in 1 minute wins.
-Cheese quantity eaten is
judged down to the cube.
-At 1 minute’s completion,
contestants are not allowed to swallow any more until judges come
around and check to see how much cheese is left in their mouths.
Ties will be broken based on this quantity.

KEG RACE
Prerequisites
-18 or older
-Liability release form
Rules
-2-contestant teams roll a
keg 90 feet west to east, spin it 180 degrees past the east line,
then roll the keg back past the west line as fast as possible.
-Timing starts from the
ringing of the almglocken to the moment the keg first touches ground
beyond the west white line.
-No part of the keg can
cross the line before the ringing of the bell or during its spinning
at the east end.
-1 contestant must be on
each end of the keg. No solo rolling is allowed.
-The kegs must be rolled.
Carrying will result in disqualification.
-The first 2 races will
determine in which of the 3rd and 4th races
the contestants will compete. The losers of the first 2 races will
compete head-to-head in the 3rd race to avoid being the
big loser. The winners of the first 2 races will compete in the 4th
to be the grand champion.

SAUERKRAUT RACE
Prerequisites
-16 or older
-Liability release form
Rules
-The 5 contestants eat their
2 cans of sauerkraut as fast as possible.
-The race begins with the
ringing of the almglocken. Contestants are not allowed to touch
their cans or their sauerkraut until the race has begun.
-Contestants must empty a
can to judge’s satisfaction before starting a new can. (Juice does
not need to be drunk, but is not allowed to be dumped either.)
-The race goes until 1)
someone has swallowed or stuffed into their closed mouth all their
sauerkraut, or 2) 3 minutes has elapsed (warranting a second
bell-ringing).
-Contestants are not allowed
to either “erbrechen” or spill more than the scantest quantity of
sauerkraut. If they do, they are disqualified.
To win
-Either the first one to
complete his or her sauerkraut or the person who’s eaten the most
sauerkraut in 3 minutes wins.
-Sauerkraut quantity eaten
is judged down to the centimeter. Upon completion of 3 minutes,
judges level the remaining sauerkraut in the can and count how many
centimeters of space there are between can rim and sauerkraut.
-At 3 minutes’ completion,
contestants are not allowed to move sauerkraut any further into
their mouths. For any top-place ties measured in quantity consumed,
judges will look at the contenders’ faces to determine the winner.

HOT
DOG RACE
Prerequisites
-16 or older
-Liability release form
Rules
-The 5 contestants eat their
16 hot dogs as fast as possible.
-The race begins with the
ringing of the almglocken. Contestants are not allowed to touch
their bowl or their dogs until the race has begun.
-The race goes until 1)
someone has swallowed or stuffed into their closed mouth all their
hot dogs, or 2) 5 minutes has elapsed (warranting a second
bell-ringing).
-Contestants are not allowed
to either “erbrechen” or spill more than the scantest quantity of
dog. If they do, they are disqualified.
To win
-Either the first one to
complete his or her dogs or the person who’s eaten the most dogs in
5 minutes wins.
-Hot dog counts are done in
whole numbers. In order for a dog to count for someone, he or she

her mouth upon race completion, or be able to squeeze it in simply
by closing his or her lips (no additional biting or using hands to
shove dog in).

Prerequisites
-18 or older
-Liability release form
Rules
-Two contestants start
not touching either their partner or the starting hay bale. At
the horn, the one carrying sits on the bale and the other

carrier stands and runs around the post and back. The team
touches the bale stack as fast as possible, a 100-foot round
trip.
-Pairs go one at a time,
up to 15 pairs.
-Carriers can carry the
carried however they choose, though they should note they are
disqualified if any part of the carried touches anything besides
the carrier from the time the judge approves their positioning
on the hay bale to the finish.
-Touching the post
requires its re-rounding to avoid disqualification.
-After rounding of the
post, any part of the team’s bodies touching the bale stack
stops their time.
-The only equipment
teams are allowed to use are helmuts (German spelling) and
